Timothy Goodman is a designer, illustrator & author, known as one half of the creative power behing 40 Days of Dating and 12 Kinds of Kindness.

Q:

Timothy, how much effort do you put into presenting your ideas to your clients?

It always depends on the scale of a project, and how corporate the client I'm working with is — but because I started my career in branding, I'm always inclined to put together a little "deck" to show clients the ideas behind my executions. That can include inspiration and references, my process, the art, and how that art will live in its environment.

"I show clients the ideas behind my executions."

What are the biggest mistakes you’ve made and what have you learned?

I went to design school at 23 years old, so I made all my big mistakes before that. Every one's career path is on a different trajectory, and it's important to allow the space and time to evolve and learn. Now, I like to approach design as a practice, not as a profession.
